Merry Christmas

Since I have been on my break, I have enjoyed the sight of our Christmas tree that graces a table in our living room.

We have been having unseasonably warm weather and I am currently enjoying the sun streaming through our windows and the breeze coming through our open door. The sunlight glistens on the angel my daughters put on the top of the tree.

A couple of days ago, I set out all the Christmas cards I received on our room divider. I enjoyed reading again some of the messages that the children had written for me.

To these wishes, the love and wishes of my family will be added. In the meantime, I sing along to some Christmas Carols.

I am ready for Christmas to begin and look forward to the time I will spend with my family.

I would like to wish alll my bloggers friends who celebrate Christmas, a joyous day filled with love and memory-making moments.

Unused Shakers

When I moved from Johannesburg to Toronto, a friend of mine gave me a parting gift:

The gift remains unused but brings a piece of Africa into my home. I love the colours and the handpainted designs on the salt and pepper shakers. They have a place on the shelf in the living room and I see its beauty each time I pass by.

Do you have unused gifts in your home?

A Pair of Books

I have a pair of books on my TBR (to be read) pile that were written by bloggers I have followed for a few years now: T.B.Markinson at 50yearproject.wordpress.com and John Amici at fromthebartolinikitchens.wordpress.com.

This weekend I decided I needed a break from working and planning my lessons. To relax, I made a cup of tea and opened T.B’s latest novel. I did not regret my action.

Did you relax a little with a book this weekend?

Coat Closet

Temperatures are dropping outside and the days are getting colder. The time has come for me to open the closet in our hall and reach for the warm jackets, scarves and hats.

At the moment I am wearing lighter jackets but am prepared to pull on the heavier coat when the temperatures drop even more.

Have you had to open your coat closet?
