Next week is Thanksgiving in Canada which means that in class we are talking about this holiday: what it is, why we celebrate it, and what it means to us.
One of the tasks I usually set is for the children to copy a sentence from the board onto a colouring page and which they then work on when their tasks are done and we are waiting for everyone to finish the activity. Today a number of children completed filling in the lines with colour.

These turkeys may have the physical form of ones seen in reality but their feathers have been filled in with an array of colours. I kinda like the look of them! ๐
What colours would you use to colour in your turkey?

Give them an interesting colouring page and some markers and they will happily colour while listening to music.

Lovely turkeys! I love it when you post photos of your class’s school work. It reminds me of the days long gone when I’d post my children’s papers on the refrigerator door.

Perusing your blog a bit, I smiled. There are so many things I over the last few years cut out of my schedule to be able to have more time for painting (in oil, watercolor, and pastel). Have no regrets though. Wonder if Thanksgiving will be the same, or different this year … in the USA it’s around Nov. 23.
You’re asking a painter which and how many colors I would use? Decide that with my brush in hand:)
Thank you for visiting my blog and hope it won’t be the last time!

I have two daughters living with me who are artists-in-training and I have seen them in action. What I love is that no two artists create in the same way.

These lovely activity sheets take me back a bit – to when I was teaching. ๐ I think if I was colouring in a turkey mine would be more like the one at the back with the number 9 in the corner. ๐

They are definitely fun to do – because of course I have to do an example ๐
