Weekend Coffee Share: A Quick Summary

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that it is snowing right now. The weather was very kind to us during the past week temperature-wise and I am hoping that the snow does not bring frigid temperatures with it because in the upcoming week, we are going to be picketing again. Winter is definitely not the best time in which to have an altercation with the government – it gets too cold outside! Negotiations did begin again during the week but by Friday, they had fallen apart. The plan is to walkout for two days this week. We will see if it will make a difference.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that on Thursday and Friday I went to the OLA Super Conference again. I enjoy going there every year as I get to speak to publishers as well as authors. I met up with a teacher friend of mine who no longer teaches at the same school as I do, and we had some time to catch up. It was great seeing her and having lunch together.

Before the OLA conference, I was lucky enough to get tickets to attend a Harper Collins event on Wednesday evening in their offices. I took a friend of mine with me and we had a wonderful time listening to the author speak as well as catching up on our news. I look forward to reading the book the publisher gifted us with as it deals with postpartum depression. If you missed my post, you can read it here.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I spent the morning working on my bullet journal. I am really pleased with my spreads and will share them with you sometime this week. They do take a bit of time to set up but I think it is something I will continue to do as I do find the activity relaxing.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am now off to do Zumba with a friend. Her building has a lovely yoga studio with the perfect floor and we have now taken to exercising in there. It is great fun! I wish you a wonderful week – many it be filled with positivity.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

  1. If we were having coffee, I would tell you “bravo” for continuing to fight for what’s important to you – I’ve told you that my wife is the Executive Producer of Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show here in the US, and Kelly’s Mom was a teacher, so they continually highlight people making an impact in the classroom and community…the powerful, positive influence you have on our future must be supported! Good luck!

  2. I suspects politics and politicians and are in a really a big aggressive industry whose primary goal seems to be about misplaced priorities and saying all the right things to get elected and sometimes by any means necessary too.

Almost had schools failing to open this year with teachers threatening to picket and of course government is more concerned in sending a retinue of delegations to Davos on Saturday on tax payers sponsored retreat that will likely yield more promised and platitudes.

Wishing you warmth and strength for the good fight wish I could send some that way we seem to be having too much of it, it even shines when it rains ha!
    Cheers

    1. It is a struggle though it does help to have your colleagues supporting you through a stressful time. I am sure it will be resolved – but not soon and at what cost. I am crossing fingers that it doesn’t get too cold – the beginning of the week seems mild and we hope it holds!

  3. I hope your fight for what you believe in is fruitful. Here in Sweden teacher are signing lists against endless documentation. Always love reading about your balance between work, play and exercise. Have a fabulous week!
