Sitting in a plane seat for hours, inactive and restless, was difficult for Tate. It reminded her of high school and the ongoing drone of the teachers’ voices. The Haagen-Dazs, however, made her think of sunny days with her girlfriends. As each scoop melted in her mouth, thoughts of their antics and conversations swirled in her mind. Sighing, she savoured the last mouthful. She needed to get back together with them. They had been her rock and she had been drifting along aimlessly since her departure. The plane was taking her home and bringing her closer to her people.

Nothing like a scoop of Häagen-Dazs to bring back memories.

I wonder if trying to recapture her past will turn out to be a mistake. In some ways, you can never go back

You often can’t because people do change as they age according to their experience.

Lovely. I like how flavor and smell still have the most power, maybe because our words to describe them are so woefully insufficient. We can’t over-describe them.

They do. And they can take us back to memorable moments in the past.

Oh, there is nothing that soothes me better than some Haagen-Daz. Now I must find some when I shop! Nice story.

It is definitely a quality ice-cream.

I would hope so too. It takes courage to act on decisions made while reminiscing.

I would love to know what airline serves Haagen-Dazs during the flight!

Probably in first class! Though I have been offered ice-cream on the KLM flights.

Cathay-Pacific. To EVERYONE! 🙂 You’re welcome! 🙂

Now that is an airline I haven’t flown yet 😀

It was the first time for me to fly with them, too. 🙂
Apparently they are quite well-known but I wasn’t aware they even existed until we were searching for flights from NY to Thailand and this direct flight from NYC to Hong Kong was available through them. I checked them out, and I’ll fly again with them. (they can even ‘sponsor’ me now that I’m giving them free publicity … ;))

I have heard good things about them – though they only fly certain routes.

Yes, which is why I’d never flown with them before my trip to Thailand. I don’t think I even knew they existed … but now I do, and they have ICE CREAM!!! 😉

KLM also serves ice cream – though notHaagen-Daz.

I like your take on the prompt, just using it as a prop for the real message about the love and support of friends. I hope Tate rebuilds the friendships.

Sweet! As for the ice-cream, it was offered to all (economy and premium-economy — donnow about the business class because I wasn’t sitting in THAT … ;)) on the Cathay-Pacific flight I took this photo on. 🙂
