Trapped!

Looking up, Mira wondered how she was going to get out. Not only was the underground room far from the main house, but there was no ladder in the vicinity. She thought of her daughter and the question this morning:

“Mommy if you had a super power, what would it be?”

She’d answered flippantly. Now, though, she wished she had the strength of Superman and his ability to fly. Screaming with frustration, she paced the musty space. Her only hope was that Mitch remembered her intention to come here when he got home. If not, she’d have an unpleasant experience.

    1. If you read carefully, you will realise that her own thoughtlessness put her in the situation as she is hoping her husband will find her. The word constraint meant I had to be VERY subtle 😀

  1. There is a general theme of claustrophobia running through many of these stories. Too close to home for me, having spent the summer dealing with the repercussions of “I ve fallen, and I can’t get up!” Unpleasant is an understatement.

  2. Being as this is the only other building on the property I’m guessing someone will think to look there. I remember a woman I worked with had claustrophobia and got stuck in a small work bathroom. She went wild until the door could be unstuck. A good story and well written, Colline. 🙂 — Suzanne
