Weekend Coffee Share: A Crash Course

If we were having coffee, I would apologise for meeting with you so late – and after the weekend has ended. The weekend was exceptionally busy – as well as the week leading up to it. Thankfully for the next 5 days I will be able to take things a little slowly and catch up a little on my blogging and book reviews as it is March Break – a week in which the schools are closed.

The week leading up to the weekend went by quickly – though my students were very excited for the upcoming break. Two of them left on Monday so I had two children left in my class. During the week, I kept hearing snippets of where others were going: Florida to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Switzerland, Amsterdam, and even Montreal. While these children are jet setting all over the world, I plan to stay at home to relax and little and to study.

Study? you may ask. Yes, my March Break began with attendance at a crash course by Canfit Pro to become a group Fitness Instructor. As you already know, I have done my basic Zumba Instructor training. In order to teach at the gym, I need to do my certification with the Canadian licencing board.

The course began at 4pm on a late Friday afternoon and finished on Sunday at 4pm. The weekend was filled with information and lots of new learning. Some of it was very interesting – and gave me insight into not only what the group fitness instructors are doing, but also what they are not. I came home on Sunday afternoon exhausted and sat myself in front of the TV with my crochet. It was a good place to unwind.

I am currently catching up on my viewing of Grey’s Anatomy. I do prefer waiting until all of the episodes are uploaded on Netflix as then I do not have to wait an entire week before finding out what happens next. I am sure that by the end of this week I will be caught up. Then I will be faced with the dilemma of what to watch next!

If we were having coffee, I would leave you now as I have my weekend chores to catch up on.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

  1. If we were having coffee I would show you pictures of the “Super Bloom” taking place all over Southern California this month – helped by heavy ongoing rains for the past two months…dont worry, I will be posting them tomorrow!

  2. Oh wow! Zumba instructor!!! I think that’s very cool, Colline. It’s also interesting to read that you need to have a certificate to teach. I honestly thought all you need is the passion for dancing/exercise. Is there a “logical” (sorry can’t think of a better word for now) reason why you need to have one first?

I’m very proud of you for being able to juggle a lot of things while here I am crying inside cause I feel like I’m going to have a breakdown from the amount of work I need to do! I hope we both have a nice week. πŸ™‚

    1. I live in a country where you have to be licensed to do any work – especially when your work affects people. It is a good thing as we learn safety and what format to use when creating a class.
Experience has taught me how to juggle things. And I am at the stage in my life where I choose to do what is important to me. Plus I have the support of my husband and children. 😊

      1. That’s very interesting to know! It’s also just right. I just realized what if the instructor just makes random moves…. anyway, I know you’ll be a good instructor. πŸ™‚

  3. I really didnt know people actually took classes for that, I have a small group of friends and we hang out in the park for some weekend cardio and something like a cross-fitness training using anything and everything we can find from park benches to trash cans because Gym subs are quite the luxury, I just google a workout guide and see how we can make it work, the other guys look at me in awe like where do you get these things and I just smile and wave …

I really hate having to wait a week until the next episode of a series is out, especially if it ends on some dramatic cliff-hanger tip so sometimes I skip out on my faves until there’s enough episodes to binge over a weekend but then there’s also the risk of running into spoilers elsewhere on the internet !!!

    1. I could follow some videos on YouTube but it is really not the same. The vibe and energy that you get when dancing together in a large group is really motivating and gets you to push yourself further.

I completed the season of Grey’s Anatomy that I was watching – now I need to wait for the next season πŸ˜€

  4. Hi Colleen,
The Can-Fit program looks like fun for you and your students. With your passion for it, you will be a wonderful teacher and will have your students too active to be allowed indoors before long.
