If we were having coffee, I would greet you with a Happy New Year wish. A new year has begun and the last few days have rushed by. We have already wished our son well as he flew back to his new home (tears were involved); and we have spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with some lovely friends. My first book of the year has been read, and I have begun my second ( my birthday giftΒ has to be read asap!).
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am not ready to go back to work on Monday. I still feel tired (too many late nights!) and still wish to rest, relax, and read. I know that on Monday I will have to hit the ground running as our report cards are due in a couple of weeks. January is a stressful time of year for me as I will have to test the children during two weeks so that I can place the appropriate grades below their names.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that it is unseasonably mild outside for this time of year. The days have been very grey and cloudy, yet we have been able to walk outside without a hat. We did have some snow fall overnight but, within a day, the white covering on the surfaces had melted. The weather forecast for the first week back at school is mild. I am wondering whether we will experience a lot of cold this winter.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I put on the usual 2kgs over the Christmas break. The overeating on sugar as well as the sedentary days have led to the weight gain. I know that I will have to work hard to lose what I have gained. The bonus will be getting back into my routine of healthy eating and better food choices. Next year I need to make the decision not to buy store bought cookies and candies – and not binge on cheeses, pastries, and crisps.
If we were having coffee, I would wish you well for the second week of 2019. Make it a good one!
What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

I find it so much easier to eat better when I am in the routine of going to work and my exercise classes.

The cold winter months are always the least pleasant, aren’t they? I am hoping for snow so that I can take them out to build snow structures.

Curse those Holiday pounds!
I maintained but I am very over weight and have been dieting for several months. I too hope to be more active in 2019. I need to read and exercise at the same time! Maybe then i will get it done, (lol).

It sounds like you had a very enjoyable holiday season. I worked most of it, so it’s not going to be a big change going back to work here. The biggest change is my daughter starting a new school, a better one, closer to my house. I’m excited about that. Thank you for the delicious coffee. I wish you a wonderful weekend, and a good start on your new semester.

I find myself in the same over the holiday eating situation as you, and I am looking forward to getting back into the healthy routine. Lots of luck with report cards and testing, it sounds like January is busy for you but I am sure it will go fast. Great coffee post, thanks for sharing.

Hi Colline – but one of the nicest things about a holiday is dropping such restrictions for a few days. It’s restful, but you are correct, as a lifestyle – a routine of better choices are wisest. Have a great 2019.

We definitely let go of our routines and restrictions. As you say, if we were to live and eat like this all of the time, we would bot be living a healthy lifestyle.

I didn’t weigh myself during any of the Christmas holidays — or this week either. π

Probably a good thing. When you weigh yourself again, the weight you have picked up will be gone π

Best of luck with the term ahead and eating healthy! I usually find it much easier to eat healthy when I’m away from work…for me less work means more time to prep my meals and more time for exercise lol π

I guess it is because I am a person who needs routine. When I am at home, my routine is thrown out of the window π

Happy anew Year! My students surprised me and my lead teacher last week by falling right into routines and eagar to learn. Weeks before the holiday were like herding kittens all day.

I am fortunate, Colline, in that I don’t really like sweet food so never overindulge in it. I do like cheese though. Your weather sounds interesting. We had terribly hot (unbearable) weather over Christmas. Good luck for work this week. I am also back.
