Weekend Coffee Share: A Halloween Week

Join us for some coffee time!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am not enjoying the dreary weather that we have been having this week. Grey skies and rain has been in the forecast. Mid-week, we had a break with some costume fun (and luckily the rain stopped for a while for the kids to go out trick or treating).

Speaking about Halloween. Did you dress up? I did, of course, as it is a fun event to participate in – and the kids love it. No-one really got my costume but that is okay – my family enjoyed the memories it brought back of our time in Paris. If you want to see what I looked like dressed as a server at an upscale restaurant in Paris, visit my Halloween post here.

On the night of Halloween I came home exhausted. Not only did I have excited kids in my classroom, but I also had an Open Classroom so that the parents could come in and have a look at their children’s work. It was an enjoyable time and it was good to chat to have the chance to chat to them. The children also enjoyed showing their moms and dads what they had done in class.

The day after Halloween was just as tiring for me. The children were cranky from their late night and also running high on sugar. The sugar rush seems to have continued over into Friday. Hopefully by Monday they will have calmed down – until they get all excited about Christmas! πŸ˜€

I almost forgot to tell you. Last weekend, my cousin and I attended two more events at the Toronto International Festival of Authors. On Friday we listened to a panel featuring Linward Barclay, Joy Fielding, and Shari Lapena. The discussion was so interesting that I did not want it to stop. One hour is definitely not enough! On Saturday we went to listen to Esi Edugyan and Meg Wolitzer. This was also an interesting discussion. Esi Edugyan read a piece from her novel. What a beautiful voice! She should be reading her own audio books!

This weekend I do not have any plans to go out anywhere. Instead I am doing the usual: housework, laundry, exercise dance classes, and reading. This afternoon I found a TV show on Netflix that I am enjoying –Β Lethal Weapon. I have been trying a few recently that haven’t kept my attention but this one will as it has some humour in it.

Have you seen the show? The pilot was really well done. I will watch a little more and see how it goes.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you to have a wonderful week. It is almost time for supper, and time to head into the kitchen.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

  1. My sister-in-law teaches third grade and she was thankful that Halloween came on a Wednesday as the day itself and all the days till the weekend mean extra hyper students. So Halloween on a Monday is just the worst week you can have. Next year it’s on a Thurs and then on Saturday. That’ll be easier.

You sure got to hear some great authors at that festival.

  2. ahhhh – I did not dress up this year (but loved your waiter attire and the memory it connected with) –
oh and I had a tiring week too. Actually felt exhausted and I never use that word – well not realy.
I think part of my tiredness was from a few low sleep nights (um, like totally) but I also did not take my b-complex (jarrow b-right) and it was week 2 without them and I am getting a bottle right away – i did not realize what they do for my energy and subtle wellness vibe. whew.
thanks for the tip on checking out lethal weapon – and the authors festival seemed awesome

      1. Well
We do not store b vitamins and then even tho food should give us a bunch – we do not get it from food cos of the corn based and even chickens with corn fed diets have less b complex in eggs!
And the b complex suooorts the glands and lymph system and omg is jarrow’s brwnd the best!
It even has a touch of pure niaicin (b3) which Cowan’s the Brain (dr hoffer in 1950s started using b3 for schiz)
Anyhow – this formula also has methyl b12 – the most absorbable – and that is pure natural energy!
Some b complex stink – and most give yellow urine if it flushes out extras –
But this jarrow is low odor formula and just a favorite thing in life (and pretty cheap too – under 20 $ for 100)
I take it weith food and a fish oil caps-
One day when doing really well – two a day when tired (breakfast and lunch)
And once on a road trip I pushed to get home and took once capsule per hour with macadamia nuts and did not need coffee (just a plain hot tea)
Sorry to ramble but this is a special item for me and hope you get to try it C

          1. I know it is on amazon and it is jarrow B-
            Right B complex
((Wish I could give you a sample – it can also
Support other chemical processes so stress takes less
Of a toll on our bodies

  3. I’m not a grey sky person either, πŸ™‚ I didn’t dress up for Halloween this year, but it was the first in awhile without kids around, so that’s probably why. πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy your week as well!

  4. I never thought about the effects on teachers when Halloween falls on a weekday! I don’t remember things being that crazy when I was in school, except for sneaking in our candy.. πŸ™‚ Our teacher I’m sure had a different perspective.

    1. The modern children already have a lot of sugar in their diet – and they are not as physical as children in the past were. It does play a role in their attention span. (And I will not mention the use of mobile devices and TV! πŸ™‚ )
