If we were having coffee, I would apologise for being a little tardy with my news this week. I did not feel well this weekend so I did a lot of resting, reading, and netflixing – I could not face sitting in front of the computer. I am feeling exhausted and my body is telling me so. The weekend was spent with an aching throat and lethargic limbs. I really do need a break.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that last week was the school concert. It was a long day – and a tiring one. I got home after 9pm – and then it took me a while to wind down. What is really annoying is that so many parents do not thank us for looking after their children while they watch the show. All it takes is a thank you for us to feel appreciated.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we received bad news last Thursday – our principal is moving onto another school next year. I will miss her as I have a connection with her and will miss her sound advice. She is moving nearer home and onto a middle school. I think she will have many visitors this week – and receive many gifts as parents, teachers, and children love her.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I had the opportunity to go to another author event on Thursday evening. I loved it! I think it is great that Harper Collins Canada introduces us to their authors whenever they get the chance. I enjoy hearing the authors speak about their novel and their writing process.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I need to go now. It is the last week of school and we will be doing a lot of tidying up this week. I wish you a wonderful day and will speak to you next week.
What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

I’d tell you to rest and keep hydrated as much as possible, Colline – and enjoy the school break 😃

I remember those final weeks at school. So many people think that it’s any easy time for teachers. Hardly! I would work right to the last day and sometimes I even came in that first week in July to sort through things I didn’t have time to do with the kids around me. I know how stressing it can be when a principal you love leaves. Hopefully you’ll have a good relationship with the new one. Get better soon.

Thank you. The added stress is that there is Summer school in my room so I need to finish this week. I am making good progress though.

Hi Colleen,
I’m glad you made it for even a quick visit. It sounds like you are wrapping up your school year and some much deserved rest in within sight.
You should stop by my story collection BTW – I added a quick short essay about how I changed my exam process for a class I was teaching for UC Berkeley Extension many years (before children) ago. I think any instructor would get a kick out of it and you might enjoy thinking of yourself in my situation and having so much fun – giving an exam of all things.
It is shorter than my normal 10 minute length stories, so perhaps you could do it in 5.
If you want to give it a test read, here is the link:

Hope you have a great finish to a great year of taking care of your collection of kiddos.
Warmest regards,
Gary

Luckily I do not have to deal with exams – my students are too young. Your take on how to make the exams a little more interesting is certainly unusual.

I hope you did get some rest. The schools here have been out for summer of a couple weeks now. Is your semester almost over? Is the trip to France still on the schedule? I hope you feel ready for the new week. ❤

School will be over by the end of this week and then we are out for the summer break.
Oh, yes. We are still going to Paris. Tickets have been bought and accommodation has been sorted 🙂

I hope you are feeling better now, Colline. I do know that feeling. I have been on an antibiotic for 10 days and I also feel worn out. I hope you get a lovely rest during this upcoming holiday.

I am definitely on the mend Robbie. I am going in today for our last day of the school year – and then I can rest for the next 2 months.
