Music Monday: Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy

Last week during the library period for my class, the librarian put on Fantasia for the children while she checked in their books and shelved them for next year. I stayed a bit to listen to listen to this Tchaikovsky piece. I love how the creators of the film matched the movements of the fairy to the music.

Children always enjoy this film – and I am sure they are looking forward to seeing the rest this week. Or they may wish to go outside if the weather is good. They do enjoy the end of the year as things wind down. Though in my class they are still doing work 😉

Have you seen the film Fantasia? Did you enjoy it?

  1. Before Fantasia was ever thought of, one of my young boyhood favourites was the Dance of the Clowns from the Nutcracker. It is sad that so few children generally, these days, have the opportunity to get to know the classics.
