The age group that I teach love colouring and always welcome an opportunity to use bright colours. For a recent activity on writing, I asked them to colour and describe a monster. Using the co-created poster of adjectives, they wrote down adjectives of their choice to describe their monsters. .
Not only do I enjoy seeing their colourful monsters, but I love that the children have managed to describe their monsters using the classroom resources in the language that they are learning.
Do you enjoy colouring with markers?

I’m not artistic, but I do enjoy the final product … and these make me smile.

I try to encourage individuality Norah. In that way the children can express their uniqueness.

The monsters are absolutely adorable! What a terrific project! It looks as though they were extremely successful combining their artwork with the adjectives they are learning to describe their monsters.

Thank you Michelle. I forgot to say that this project began with a picture book in which monsters are described.

They are. Even though the template was the same, they each put their own spin on it.

Love the wiggly yellow one with lots of eyes. π π I was pretty messy as a child, and I can’t say I’ve noticed a big improvement in my adult self, Colline.

This one was done by a boy whose neatness has increased so much since September. I am very proud of him and how much care he now takes with his tasks.

Yes they are. I teach at a French Immersion school and they are in their second or third year of learning French.
