This afternoon at the Toronto Festival of Authors I had the opportunity to listen to Kelley Armstrong, Michael Robotham, and Amy Stuart speak. What a treat! The questions asked of them by the interviewer were on target, the responses interesting and thought-provoking, and the conversation riveting. This evening at the @festofauthors I had the opportunity to listen to Miriam Toews speak about her new book Women Talking. It was interesting to learn why she decided to write the voice of a Mennonite group of women who had experienced rape. As she spoke I could hear her love for the community as well as her desire for the women within this community to find their own voices. I enjoyed the evening and look forward to reading the book. #festofauthors18 #miriamtoews #womentalking #bookblogger #booklover #bookstagram

This evening I had the opportunity to attend an another event at @harpercollinsca for their #harperpresents event which introduced me to novels perfect for the #killercrimeclub. Karen Hamilton and Annie Ward presented their debut novels - and their introduction to the stories intrigued me. I am looking forward to reading these twisty thrillers. #thrillers #debutnovels #womenwriters

I won a copy of Meg Wolitzer’s novel The Wife as well as a ticket to go and see the film. The novel was so much more than a story of the married relationship between a man and woman and I eagerly looked forward to seeing the film. The film did not disappoint and brought to the surface the same emotions I felt when reading the book - a perfect adaptation of Wolitzer’s story.
