Good morning everyone. Hope you are well this Saturday. It is gloomy outside and walking about the streets requires an umbrella today. Not the perfect weather but at least it is warmer than it was in the beginning of the week.
This week it was FREEZING in my classroom – so cold I was tempted to wear my gloves to keep my hands warm. It felt warmer outside even though the temperatures outside weren’t too high either. The second week of April is when the heating is switched off in the school and the next few weeks will not be pleasant until the building warms up naturally. In the meantime even the children are wearing sweaters – and the tissue box is handy.
On Monday night our Zumba instructor was unable to teach – and they could not get a substitute. Instead we had a BodyAttack class – it is a high impact class featuring a lot of running and strength exercises. He said he would go easy on us. I don’t know what difficult is because the class was HARD! A good experience, even though my body ached for three days afterwards.
I was grateful that we had a short working week. I felt tired and knowing this fact kept me going strong. Yesterday I did a lot of resting and I feel much better today.
Now I am off to Zumba. I am really enjoying the classes and have reached the point where I keep hearing the music in my head. I remember when I used to dance – I would hear the music in my head and dance in my head as well. I am sure that once I know the choreography, I will be doing Zumba in my mind while I am walking, and in my sleep!
Doing Zumba has definitely helped me with my sleep. It is rare now that I lie awake for hours in the early hours of the morning. I like that I sleep well and begin a day well-rested. When I am not tired I do have more patience with the children I teach and with my family members. I do not see myself stopping this form of exercise. And the bonus is that I do not need a partner to continue it!
After my exercise class, I will get things ready and do a little shopping for tomorrow’s dinner. I enjoy our Sunday family dinners – and the bonus will be that Monday is no school 🙂
I wish you a wonderful Easter Sunday with your family (if you celebrate this holiday). Do not eat too many of those chocolate eggs!
What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

It’s coming. Lots of research about the plight of the bees. 🐝🐝🐝 ❤️ Thanks for asking.

I read your post about the bees. It is a scary thought.

It will affect us all the way down the food chain. My research has turned up some exciting possibilities though. In some areas, bats are able to spread the pollen much the same as the bees. Of course, this all has to do with chemicals. Our administration will be no help in this matter either. 😦

I do not think people realise the importance of these small insects. 😦

It starts with educating our kids. But you already know that. ❤️🐝

I would tell you that I’ve finally put in my retirement letter for June 30, 2017. It’s taken me 5 years but I’m finally ready. I’m not looking forward to telling the kids but my staff has known all year that this is my last year. Now I have to get my papers in order for my pension. I love 4 day weeks.

You are soon going to have many four day weeks! How exciting – though I am sure that you will miss working with the kids. Do you think you will do a little supply teaching?

I asked to be put on the supply list but I’m not sure they will. You’re right about missing the kids. Having to say good-bye to them worries me the most.

I think the goodbyes will be tearful ones.
I guess it is different for the retired teachers I know. Their skills are still needed as there are not enough supply teachers for French Immersion.

I do Zumba, not very well though. I am also the only guy in a class full of women so that’s fun.

I admire you for doing Zumba in spite of being the only guy there. Not many men admit that they love to move their body to music. 🙂

It is nice your exercise class is paying off with your sleep problems. What I remember about Easter was the dozen hard boiled eggs each of us got. I had book the eggs and decorate the coloring and hide them at night. I never could eat all of my dozen. No problem my brothers ate them as will as their own. Have a good dinner tomorrow. I hope to cook a pot roast tomorrow.

Hi Colline! I love Zumba too! I haven’t gone to any classes recently but there’s a lot of Youtube channels that I search for when I need to exercise. A lot of Zumba classes are usually done outdoors in my city and they even have one for senior citizens which I totally enjoy going to. It gives me a certain euphoric state afterwards and you just feel happy. 🙂 I hope you have a great week ahead, thanks for coffee.

How mean to turn off the heat before the weather cooperates!
Good for you on getting regular exercise. I’m trying to reorganise my time to do more than just walk my dog. I think you’ve given me the kick in the pants I need!

They turn off the heat every year at this time – and every year we get cold. I wish they would turn the boilers off three weeks later!
Good luck on switching up your exercise regime.
