Music Monday: Mango Groove

This weekend I spent a little time in my past and listened to one of my favourite South Africa groups from my late teens and early twenties: Mango Groove.

I love their truly South African sound that is so different to mainstream western music.

I have been to a number of their concerts and have always enjoyed the voice of the lead singer, Claire Johnston.

Listening to the songs made me feel nostalgic – not only for my past but also for the country of my birth.

I definitely need to listen to my Mango Groove CDs more often!

Do you listen to Mango Groove? Which is your favorite song?

  1. I’m a big fan of Mango Groove. I live in the UK and had never heard of them until about 3 years ago when I stumbled across their music on iTunes. I went to their London gig in March 2015 – their first in over 20 years – after which I was hooked. I love their unique sound and Claire Johnston has a great voice. Hopefully you’ve heard by now that after a 7 year hiatus they’ve just released a new double album #FacesToTheSun. I love it! They’re still gigging in SA – they’ve just done Park Acoustics and are performing at Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert on New Years Day.
