This year has been a hot summer! Heat waves, thirst and sweat are words used to describe the last few weeks. Thirst has been combated by a tall glass of cool, refreshing water; sweat has been slaked off by the rush of water coming from the shower head. Living in the city in a developed country, I am blessed to have the water that I need at the twist of a tap. There is no need for me to walk long distances to fetch the water I need and then carry it home. It is not necessary for me to boil the water before I drink it. This week I am grateful for water that is clean and easily accessible.
What have you been grateful for this week?
Last week:
Lavender Ladi was grateful for lists
Laura was grateful for small arms and gentle hugs
Claire shared a list of things that she was grateful for last week.

It is a resource we tend to take for granted – especially when it comes so easy to us.

Yes, you’re right. It took me some months in Nevada to appreciate water more..

It’s been raining for a whole week where I’m from and I’m grateful nature has its own way to provide water for the plants. 🙂

Rain is always a blessing. I enjoy hearing the sound of the rain as it falls to the ground.

Thank you. Having lived in South Africa yourself, you understand the importance of water.

I’m also grateful for water and hoping for some “real” rain.

A good rainfall has been scarce this summer. Maybe we will get lucky soon 🙂

I too am grateful for clean water, and for the air conditioning we had installed, just three summers ago!

With the hot days we have had this summer, I would have been grateful for air conditioning as well 🙂

We do Paula. And access to clean water is something that so many of us take for granted.

I lived in the Philippines. When I was a kid, we had to collect water using pails and buckets and drums. I even remember pumping up and down wells just to get water. This is why I have learnt not to waste! Every drop, every grain, it’s something to be grateful for.

The lessons we learn as a child definitely follow us through adulthood. I may not have had to pump for water like you did but having lived though many droughts, I learned as well not to waste a drop.

I am also grateful for having running water after years of having to stand in a queue to draw water when I was growing up and sometimes walking a couple of kilometers when local taps had run dry. I am also grateful that my parents now have the ‘luxury’ of running water in their house. I am even more grateful that their water is from their own borehole as they just have to turn on a knob when the water runs low in the tank. Ah, the simple treasures of life!.

I am grateful for water too – and I like your writing style here – thirst combatted – sweat slaked off – so good!
