Black & White Sunday: Negative Space

Last night I decided to open a bottle of South African wine that my nephew had brought us for Chinese New Year. As I pulled the cork out, I thought of the many times I had done so in the past before pouring wine to eat with dinner. Not many wine bottles these days are corked and I wondered if corking does make a difference to the taste of the beverage.

The wine is crisp and went well with the dinner my husband had cooked. We do not drink much and we look forward to having another taste of home tonight.

Do you drink wine with your dinner?

  1. Cork, screw top, plastic cork – who cares – as long as the contents are good! I’m rather fond of South African wine too and Nederburg is usually very good. You mention “taste of home” – did you live in South Africa then Colline?

          1. Where did you live in SA? I spent time in Johannesburg and Cape Town and my son and daughter lived in Durban for a while, so I have travelled through much of the country.

            1. I grew up in Johannesburg, the Alberton. As an adult I lived in Alberton and Sandton. Never had the chance to live in either Cape Town or Durban – even though I did visit.
