The end of the school academic year is near and I have been cleaning the classroom: washing and disinfecting toys, packing up items so the room can be cleaned during the summer break, taking down posters from the walls, preparing the children’s portfolios and sending them home. I have also been boxing my things as I am teaching a different grade next year and therefore have to move classrooms.
The end of the year also brings the concert for the parents, the class party to celebrate the end of the school year, and the teacher’s gifts. The parents this year have been very generous in showing their gratitude to me. Last week, before a student of mine left for an early vacation, he presented me with this potted plant:

The flowers are beautiful and they look lovely on my dresser. I know that I will think of the child who gave it to me every time I pass them by.
This week I am grateful not only for the gift of orchids, but also for the acknowlegement of so many parents for the work I have done with their children this year. It makes all the extra effort I put in well worth it.
What have you been grateful for this week?

I enjoy reading what others are grateful for – the posts make me think of other things I am happy to have in my life. Please remember to send me a pingback so that I know you have participated.
