Dressed for Halloween

Friday dawned as a gloomy day. The clouds were heavy and it was raining. The rain was a disappointment as it meant the children at the school where I work could not take their traditional Halloween walk through the streets of the neighbourhood. The rain did not, however, prevent the children – and their teachers – from dressing up.

As a kindergarten teacher, I could not refrain from participating. After a long search for an appropriate costume, I settled on a dress from the Renaissance. For fun, I decided to wear a blonde wig.

During the day, some people did a double take – and others took a while to recognise me. What fun 🙂

Did you dress up for Halloween? What was your costume?

  1. One year the school where I taught let the kids wear their Halloween costumes to school. I thought it would be fun too. I don’t think I wore anything too drastic … can’t remember. But a lot of kids came as vampires etc with makeup. Some in high heels and crazy get ups.
I’ve had some pretty bad teaching experiences 😦 but this was the worst. 😦 😦 After the first fifteen minutes, everyone was miserable. The kids pulled off their costumes. Some were crying because they couldn’t sit. The face paint was itchy. Not a lot of teaching got done.
Needless to say the school changed their policy next year. lol

You look cute in your costume. 🙂

    1. Not many children had their face painted and the parents were very sensible with the costumes they helped choose for their children. It is a big tradition to dress up at the school where I teach and it has been going on for years. We expected a difficult day and yet it went by easily. The grade 5s created haunted houses – which we visited – and we organised some classroom activities. The school also had a parade and some sing & dance activities in the gym. It ended up being a very pleasant day. 🙂

  2. I’ll say it again – you look great as a blonde but I prefer the brunette. 😆 Looks like you had lots of fun Colline. You looked gorgeous! 😀 ♥
