There is a sign in my neigbourhood that I have loved from the first time that I saw it.

The tortoise appeals and yet I wonder whether drivers pay heed.
What unusual road signs have you seen?

What great signs – I like the sign telling the traffic to calm down too. We should have them over here in Oz.

I had a similar idea when I first saw it – instead I felt that the South Africans needed the sign as a reminder 🙂

It should be a world wide movement. 🙂

Love that sign! And the tortoise is eye catching but I would think it meant to be careful, there may be tortoises crossing 🙂

Maybe, but I have never seen tortoises in the neighbourhood 🙂

Gives a sense of the need for calm, doesn’t it? The signs have been placed in a side street next to a high school that also has speed bumps. I am wondering if speed was an issue in that street at one time.

I’ve never before seen a Calming Zone traffic sign before, how interesting! While most traffic signs seem like direct commands, do this, or don’t do that, this seems more like a suggestion – Chill Out. 🙂 I like it!

And take it slow – like a tortoise 🙂

Love them but I think there are maybe to many signs on one pole! Which one are you going to see first, second…. You have to pass it many times before you know all of them? Just a suggestion!

They have probably been added one at a time when the need arose. I think, though, that many who pass down that road do so often.
