My Three Favourite Things

Last week on Instagram I was tagged to share three of my favourite things. Three only? I had to think on it a bit as I had to decide which things to leave out!

The first that came to mind is my favourite story of all time: the story of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Fantasy fiction is certainly my favorite read – especially if it is well written and has an original storyline. I then thought of my favourite meal. What sprang to mind was the stir-fried noodles that we eat every week. I cook the noodles vegetarian-style with plenty of vegetables. Yummy! And my favourite current activity? That would be crochet. I find using the hook both relaxing and creative.

These, of course, are not my only favourite things but are the ones that first came to mind. The food and crochet activity may change within a year – but the name of my favourite author will not. I read the first of Tolkien’s books when I was 12 years old and have been a fan ever since.

What are your three favourite things?

    1. My mom taught me crocheting when I was a teenager as I could never manage knitting and the doctor recommended I do something with my hands to improve their blood circulation. I have loved doing it ever since.

  1. The Hobbit is the first book I remember reading. Love it. Three things I love: travel, books, and movies. I didn’t do a very good job narrowing down the list.

  2. Ah, your photo of your bookshelf could have been taken in my house! I also have been a crotcheter (and knitter) since I was very young, but have not made anything now for years!
My favourite things would have to include my greenhouse!

      1. No photos of the greenhouse, alas! But also, few photos of what has come out of the greenhouse (although the Grass Trees in a recent post were residents for a few years!). I love propagating things (mostly from seed), and since we live in a country area which has lost most of its natural bush, I grow and plant trees and shrubs – many thousands of them. Luckily we have 20 acres of land for me to “fill up”!

  3. Well, the Algarve would have to be one of them, don’t you think, Colline? 🙂 And always reading has to feature, even if I don’t spend as much time doing it as I once did. And thinking about that- blogging would have to be the third 🙂

  4. Ah, lovely! Well, you know we enjoy the same authors, so I’ll have to join you in (1) love reading Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ series, then (2) traveling with my two favorite girls, Hallie and Mama, but just spending time with them is wonderful, too, and (3) creative writing, whether it be fantasy fiction or poetry. And yes, I have many, many favorite things and these are probably not the top 3 but they’re up there in the top 10 to be sure. Like you, these were the first 3 things that came to mind. Those noodles look tasty. I may have to go cook an early supper. Makin’ me hungry. 🙂
