Summer vacation is over and we spent time over the weekend preparing for today. My girls are prepared to meet their new teachers; my eldest eager to begin high school. I am ready to greet a new batch of students and make them feel at ease in their first year of French Immersion in kindergarten.

The sun is still shining as we transition into the new school year; the air is still warm. The start of school signals that Fall will soon be on its way but, in the meantime, school yards will echo with the voices of children as they play in short sleeves.
What signs do you experience that show the change of seasons?

Good luck for another school year. Hope your daughter enjoys high school such a big change from primary school. My twins will also be starting high school next year and although they are excited and so am I, can’t help feeling a little nervous as well.

She attended an orientation day last week so that has helped, I think, in quieting a lot of the nerves and questions. We are sure to hear many stories tonight at the dinner table 🙂

I’m sure she will have a lot to share. 🙂 orientation day is a good way of breaking the ice we have ours planned later in the year.

It is so much easier when your children enjoy school. My girls also enjoy their lessons so I had no problems sending them off to school 🙂

@French immersion: do you teach French?… – if so, you could have a ‘BB’ = bilingual blog… 🙂
from Wiki:”French immersion programming spread rapidly from its original start in Canada in 1965. French Immersion education is optional and not compulsory. Parents have the choice in sending their children to schools that offer such programming. Students are encouraged to begin communicating in French as consistently as possible. Teachers in French Immersion schools are competent in speaking French. Classroom communication of French in French Immersion programs is meaningful and authentic for students. Learning French becomes subconscious and there is a strong focus on understanding before speaking. Most students that enroll in French Immersion programs are not experts in French and lack experience in it. Students in French Immersion programs complete the same curriculum as students in the Core program.”

Merci Mélanie.
Oui, j’enseigne le français dans une école d’immersion. Mes élèves ne connaissent pas un mot en français. Mais à la fin de l’année ils peuvent me comprendre – et disent quelques phrases en français. 🙂
