Flowers in Black and White

I enjoy the colours of the flowers in spring: yellow, red, pink, violet. The colours are a balm to a spirit that longed for colour during the long, icy winter. There are times, however, when the details of the flowers really stand out in black & white.

The lack of colour seems to bring out the shades in the geraniums and the detail of its centre. When blossoms are seen without colour, their beauty seems to be highlighted in contrast to the darkness of the leaves.

The photos are effective and pleasant to look at. I do prefer, however, seeing the colour when I walk about outside. Colour that tells me that spring has arrived and old man winter has left for southern plains.

Do you enjoy seeing flowers in black & white?

      1. I can totally relate Colline and I ask you to excuse my absence too – trips and juggling my job with some second jobs was too much. Just drop by when you can, and to tell me how you are doing. I hope the school year is over soon and you will be able to take nice, long holidays.

    1. I am loving the greens and colours and the moment Yvette. I think think I appreciate them this year more than usual as we had a particularly hard winter this year.

      1. yeah – I can see how that makes it even more appreciated – and for our area – we also had a colder than usual winter and I lost a lot of plants this winter – not a big deal – like some were annuals anyway, and I was shocked they made it in my zone this long – anyhow, cheers to spring and summer 🙂

  4. I agree with you Colline and what you share is truly beautiful…black and white shots always seem to capture more of the deep beauty in flowers, for it captures more of their spirit. Have a wonderful and awesome week ahead!
