When one thinks of shopping in the winter, one thinks of indoor malls that are warmly heated; of places where one is comfortable away from the elements of winter. One does not think of ice and cold! Before Christmas last year, my family and I went out to do a little shopping. The day we chose was not the best as during the night there had been an ice storm. Having never experienced such a severe ice storm, we were unprepared for the havoc it caused. The sights we saw, though, were beautiful.
As we walked into Ikea, we could not help but notice the shopping carts that had been left outside overnight. The entire cart was encased in ice, giving a new meaning to the term “winter shopping”.
We walked past the carts, knowing that we would find ice-free ones inside – and thankful we did not have to grab those frozen handles.
