A Captured Silhouette

While driving on the Swazi roads last year, I was trying my best to capture the beauty of the sunset. My husband was driving and I was snapping away happily, focusing on the sun setting behind the mountains. Looking back at my photographs afterwards, I was pleasantly surprised at the silhouettes I had captured of the people at the traffic light.

I liked, too, that I had captured the different colours of the sky. I don’t think I could have taken a better snap if I had planned it.

Have you been pleasantly surprised by the photos you have taken?

    1. Thank you Ann. This is what I love about digital cameras: one can try taking a picture without worrying about the cost to print it. This has enabled me to be pleasantly surprised on a few occasions 🙂

  1. Beautiful picture. I also like your new blog picture — reflecting the season? My surprise is usually how well a picture turned out, how well it captured the scene, the moment, the people, the landscape. Every now and then, something has wandered unnoticed into the frame, such as a flock of birds

  2. a very cool click. i once saw a spectacular sunset while on a walk with friends and was quite pleased with the images i had captured.a stranger noticed my photos and made a suggestion that i almost didn’t follow. but it was good advice and i was so happy with the results. i ended up with my favourite sunset photo to date, one that almost wasn’t captured but for the courage of a stranger that offered some advice. if you’d like to check it out, it’s here: http://wp.me/p1hfki-Ny

  3. Yes, it is a wonderful shot, Colline 🙂 Sometimes, not very often I get such surprises, but more I know about camera and photography surprises are rarer and my expectations from myself greater.

  4. Dear Coline
The silhouettes of the people are just beautiful, but it is totally overwhelmed by the beauty of the sunset. That different shades of gold and orange speaks of the wonder of its Creator!

  5. Beautiful shot, Colline. 🙂 I’m frequently pleasantly surprised by my photographs. Very often I find something in the scene I missed while I was taking it.

  6. Hi Colline,

That’s a very beautiful silhouette captured by you! 🙂 And what makes it spectacular are the colors in the background. The splash of orange and grey hues is simply so magical!
