Dreamy December Days Read-a-thon: Day 5

Dreamy December days seem to be far away. How wonderful it would be to truly participate in a read-a-thon. This would require time spent sprawled out on the sofa immersed in another world with a cup of tea nearby. It would require, as well, an interruption-free day: no “Mommy can you help me?’; no “What’s for supper?”; no “Mommy, can I …?”

True dreamy reading days seem to be a thing of my past. But I shall come near to it during the December school holidays. During this time I will be able to sink my teeth into a book for at least an hour at a time with no interruptions. I will not have to go to work, prepare lessons, and squeeze in household chores. During this time, the sofa and I shall be intimate friends – and I shall welcome its warm embrace wholeheartedly. Temperatures will be plummeting outside yet I will be warmly ensconced in my home with a book as my companion.

Yes, I look forward to dreamy reading days. And in the meantime I forge ahead, squeezing my reading into every moment that I can.

Are you able to find time to read during your day?

  2. I’m such a reading addict I’ve always forced myself to find time, but often it’s just small snatches of time on the bus. I associate the holiday season with reading, though here it’s on lazy summer afternoons, ideally after a morning at the beach.
