Summer Songs

When I was at school we always began our summer holidays singing the Cliff Richard song “Summer Holiday”. (Yes, my parents were fans πŸ™‚ Β )

We would then sing the songs that were current at that time. These were some of the songs I listened to. Do you remember any of them?

“On the Beach” by Chris Rea. This I would listen to when I was in the mood for something soothing.

“I can’t Dance” by Genesis. I loved listening to Phil Collins and his band. This was just one among many favourites.

“Doctor Jones” by Aqua. The perfect song to dance to. I loved its upbeatΒ rhythm.Β

“Walk like an Egyptian” by The Bangles. Our summer holidays were during December and we always danced to this song at family parties. Like an Egyptian!

“Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. Every teenager was listening to Michael Jackson and I was no exception.

“Forever Young” by Alphaville. Another group I used to listen to over and over. Even my mom got to know the words!

These were amongst the songs of my adolescence.

Share in the comments section some of the songs from your teenage years.Β

    1. You are welcome πŸ™‚
After watching the video I was so tempted to change the idea of my blog post and make it one on Cliff Richard. How I love the music he did with The Shadows, as well as what he did on his own.

  1. Oh, I am a fan of all of these Colline, especially Cliff Richard. He is such a hunk too! πŸ˜€
    Great post hon! πŸ˜€ *hugs*

      1. Oh, all of them Colline. I never could choose anyone. He’s got such a soothing voice. But I got this video for you. Also one of my favourites :

  2. Oh Colline, summer songs! They bring back so many memories don’t they? ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ reminds me of one of my friends who loved this song. We always stopped what we were doing that 80’s summer to dance like Egyptians. Her favorite line was, ‘If you want to find all the cops, they’re hangin out in the donut shops.’ She would say that it was true, I would disagree. She would laugh and then I would too.
Do you remember, ‘Smoke on the Water’? Makes me think of camping in Pennsylvania near the Suskahannah river with my family when I was a kid. Do you remember the haunting Supertramp lyrics of the song, ‘School’. Tell me any summer song and it always brings back memories of that particular summer.

Summer songs still create memories for me!

  3. LOVED this!! Was totally in the mood for all of this – including everyone else’s videos. Fantastic post πŸ™‚
