Sit around the table with a group of people and often the topics will reflect the past. Last weekend the topic was “the ads of our youth”. The first one that came to my mind was the Cremora advert that used to air on TV when I was a teenager. Cremora is a coffee creamer that is used in South Africa; and they had found the perfect ad that got people talking (or at least the people in my circle). “It’s not inside, it’s onnn top” was the phrase that made us laugh again and again.
There were other adverts that I came to love. I enjoyed the one of Sasol: I found the little boy’s face to be so expressive and always made me laugh.
The Cadbury’s Chomp advert was cute as well (Chomp is a chocolate bar that we used to love as kids). This one is advertising the bigger bar:
These are the first adverts that came to my mind at first thought. I am sure that thinking a little longer will bring some more to mind.

One of my favorites is a Dutch one. It’s for an insurance company! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrwouFVSlDY

So funny Ingrid! I can imagine their reaction when they look on top of the car roof!

Good times those indeed Colline. I used to love watching these Ads on TV. Nowadays I don’t watch TV because of all the terrible ads inbetween. I also loved the “Buddy” ads :

The Cremora one was sheer genius. It amused, and it got the message across. These days, I may quite enjoy an ad, but at the end of it I’m not sure what it was for. Or else it is so bad that I resolve never to touch the brand.

The ads seem to have lost their spunkiness, haven’t they? And the clever sense of humour.

I do miss watching all the commercials during the Super Bowl–that was my favorite time. The only ad I can remember from my childhood was the “Where’s the beef?” lady.

No face could be more expressive! They did a follow up ad with another boy, but his face was just not as expressive.
