A Kitchen Wish

Currently we live in an apartment and experience cooking in a cramped space. Table space on which to chop and prepare our meals is limited; and two people in the kitchen is a tight squeeze.

There are times when my family and I go look at open houses, or model homes that have been created to buy off plan. And when we do, most kitchens are created in more space than we currently have. I love to dream that one day, in the future, I will have a bigger and more beautiful space to work in. Below is one of the kitchens I have dreamed about:

I love that the space is open and full of light;  and that the carpentry is not made of a dark material.

A dream kitchen: beautifully laid out with plenty of work space.

What is your dream kitchen? Do you already experience it?

  1. The kitchen you’ve posted is very nice, and I’m very happy with the kitchen we have, but I just wanted to say that your present kitchen sounds adorably cute and cozy! Smiles and Blessings.

  2. A large spacious kitchen with new appliances and room for an island would be very nice. Oh! And enough cupbord space to fit everything I own, comfortably. (Good luck with that last bit.)

      1. Mine is an older building and the kitchen, though large, needs a remodeling. There are few cupboards, a lack of counter space, and it is poorly laid out. When I win the lottery … 🙂

  3. That’s my kind of kitchen, Colline. It looks beautiful. We have a good sized kitchen but it’s badly designed and worktop space is severely limited. We should spend the money on a redesign, but our home is needing a lot of TLC and it’s not going to happen any time soon. I don’t really enjoy cooking so I guess it doesn’t matter too much.

    1. I know that if I had more space to cook, I would be more encouraged to do more in the kitchen – especially recipes that require using the rolling pin. I am hoping that cooking would be less of a chore if I had a better workspace.

    1. I like that people can come and talk to you while you prepare a meal. My mom had a huge kitchen when I was growing up, and sitting in the kitchen while she was cooking was the norm.

  4. I hope your wish comes true soon my friend. That is a beautiful kitchen. Me and my wife used to go to these model homes too, then we decided to make a little one of our own. Not fancy but something we shared a lot of great meals. Beautiful post!

  5. Ahhh Colline..what a lovely kitchen. I think the white cabinet look will return as all good fashion does. It certainly is cheery, isn’t it? I saw a lovely kitchen yesterday at a property open house – huge, extra large island for rolling out dough and baking. I thought of you.

    Will try to send pics!

  6. Oh Colline, seeing this beautiful kitchen made me just a little bit sad for a moment or two. I was fortunate to design and have installed my dream kitchen in my house in England. It had everything, it was egg-shell coloured, had all the latest gadgets, a super island, a cozy corner for ‘kitchen-entertainment’, and a door right into a lovely garden. Now my present kitchen is pale blue, HOT/no AC, tiny but…….we love this one too. The new owners of my old house are also totally in love with “the kitchen”.
