A Resolution

A New Year begins: 2013. Champagne has been poured; wishes given and received. I look to the future and know what I would wish for. Not all, however, can be controlled by me. Directed by me. Others will play a part in making my dreams come true, in helping me attain my personal goals. Others will contribute to my tears of joy, to my tears of sadness.

A new year. A new beginning. A time for resolutions and promises to oneself. My mind mulls over the usual: a promise to exercise more, to eat better, to get that perfect job. How often, though, are those promises broken. Left by the wayside to be picked up again the following year.

This year I look at the calendar for 2013 and I make only one promise to myself. I resolve to make the most of the opportunities I am given this year. Past years I have hesitated and tip-toed around my dreams and goals. This year I will try to grab the chances given with both hands. No second-guessing. No “what if”.

Will my resolve fade as the weeks pass by and a busy life takes over? Only time will tell when I look back at the end of the year.

Happy New Year everyone. May this year be all that you wish it to be.

What resolutions have you made for 2013?

    1. The best resolution to have Alex! To focus on happier things and to pay no heed to the obstacles and people that would prevent your dreams and happiness from being a reality.
