Weekly Photo Challenge: Summer

Summer brings with it long days filled with sun, fun and water. I think back to a day on which we travelled to Sun City in South Africa to spend a day in the water at the Valley of the Waves. It was a warm morning as we walked towards the swimming area after setting ourselves up under the umbrellas.

We admired the architecture of the valley. We looked curiously at the calm waters and the water spouting from the mouths of the lions. Where were the waves, we asked one another.

Suddenly we heard a rumbling sound and the water trembled. And saw the waves approaching. What fun to be immersed in the water! Almost as good as riding a wave in the ocean as it breaks upon the shore.

We enjoyed our moments in the sun and water. Unfortunately a huge thunderstorm cut short our pleasure as we all ran for shelter from the storm. Thunderstorms – something else that summer brings with it.

What memories do you have of Summer?

  1. As a child I have great summer memories. Surf and sand and then mountains and lakes. As an adult, sitting in my yard with a cool breeze and swimming in my pool. Nice fun day it looks like you had in the waterpark.

    1. The best times spent in summer is sitting outside sipping a cool drink and enjoying the warmth and breeze. It is moments like these that we miss during the long, cold winter months.

    1. And it is more than just the water park. There is a bird sanctuary, a casino, places in which you can stay, and it is a drive away from a game reserve.

    1. It is surrounded by mountains and plenty of open lands. If you spend a few days at Sun City, it can be very restful if you avoid the casinos and spend your time outdoors.

  2. Wow…I wish I could count this as my summer fun! That looks sooo refreshing Colline.

My summer fun…days at Musselsman’s lake swimming…camping and fishing off the dock, long bike rides and horse-back riding through the wheat field, Oswego, NY car racing, Scranton, Pennsylvania 4th of July nights with all the teens and kids of all ages thoroughly excited, booming rock concerts at the outdoor Ontario Place Ampitheatre, being totally lazy, daydreaming, having nothing in particular to do, the summer heat and majic in the air
