Weekly Photo Challenge: Down

It is not often that we get the opportunity to look at the world from a height. I had the chance to do so when I went on a Ferris Wheel ride with my children, nephews and siblings this past year. We were at Gold Reef City, a theme park situated in Nasrec 8 kilometers from the centre of Johannesburg in South Africa. In the photograph you can see a bird’s-eye view of a section of the park, as well as the skyline of the Johannesburg metropolis in the distance.

  1. Awesome photo! I would love to take a pic from the top of the Texas Star, the ferris wheel in Dallas used for the Texas State Fair. Maybe next September…

  2. The view on top of Ferris Wheel never fails to take my breath away, that plus the fear of heights. Its better for me to just look straight than to look down cause then I feel butterflies in my tummy. Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing a wonderful glimpse of the amazing Johannesburg. Best wishes to you and your family.

    1. It was a little scary – especially as it was my first time on such a large one. But sitting with the children and hearing their squeals of delight made it seem easier to bear 🙂

  3. That is such a really cool photo of “down”. I love that view. I’ve never been to Johannesburg, South Africa. I love the mix of urban and greenery. Cool photo!
